  • ​Newsela - Lots of kid-friendly news articles with associated Quizzes etc. Sign up as an educator and join your class via a class code.
  • Kiwi Kids News - New Zealand current events articles for kids. Includes some quizzes.
  • ESL News - NZ news with text and an audio track and vocab list (also has audio)
  • TweenTribune - News for Kids divided into different age groups.
  • Wonderopolis - Ask a fact-based question or choose from the bank of questions.
  • BTN - Behind the News - Australian news site for upper primary and secondary school students. Has some quizzes.
  • DOGOnews - Current events. Includes audio of some of the articles and embed code for articles to use on a blog or website. Integrates with Google Classroom. Click on highlighted vocab to see a definition. Has free accounts or you can get student assignments with the paid version $US2 per student per year. Free account does have some student activities.
  • Breaking News English - You can choose the level of difficulty, level 0 - 6. Level 0 requires a reading age of around 7. Has audio tracks at various speeds as well as text. Lots of follow-up activities, you can get the story and activities on pdf if wanted..
  • Youngzine - News around different topics and also has a U-Write section where contributions from students are invited.
